Haag Campaign Nets Flurry of Labor Endorsements

We are proud and grateful to announce a wave of Labor endorsements over the past several weeks that recognize Matt’s solid commitment to organized labor and to living wage jobs. Organizations now formally endorsing Matt Haag for City Council include AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, local 1635), The Locust Club (Rochester Police), BENTE/AFSCME (Board Of Education Non-Teaching Employees, AFSCME AFL CIO Local 2419) and the UAW (United Auto Workers, Local 1097).

UPDATE: The Rochester Regional Joint Board of Workers United announced their endorsement of Matt Haag on Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Thank you, Workers United!

Rochester’s best parades are back-to-back in July. This year’s festival of all things Puerto Rican kicked off on Saturday, July 25, at the Liberty Pole. It was the most fun you can have with your feet (or your wheels) on the ground. Politicians were abundant.

Observe at the right: Loopy, the only person in Rochester able to make Hizzonner feel short.

Famous People at the start

Rochester’s annual Gay Pride Parade, the second largest in New York State, happened Saturday, July 18th, and the Haag campaign was out in force. A host of politicos and supporters were on hand to meet the folks and show their support for LGBT rights. It was a phenomenal high-energy event, the first such this season.
