We share common goals. We all want Rochester to become a better, safer, more prosperous city. Our families, neighborhoods, communities, depend on it. The question is, how do we get there? Is it even possible?

I believe the answer is yes. I believe that movement towards those goals is possible. It will take energy, steady work, and leadership. Most of all, I believe in three core values:

• Democracy. Here and now, that means a City Council that listens, that responds, that represents you. That’s the way it’s supposed to work, and I know firsthand what a difference it can make.
• Diversity. And I mean more than just skin-deep, although that’s important. City Council needs a diversity of thought, of background, of life experience.
• Development. In the truest, deepest sense of the word. Not real estate, or raising money. Progress. Steady action and movement towards a better city, a better life.
