2013 Annual Pride Report: Rochester Pride Celebrates 40 Years

This year Rochester Pride celebrates 40 Fabulous Years, an occurance known as a Ruby Jubilee.  Any friend of Dorothy (from the Wizard of Oz) knows she is famous for her ruby red slippers.  The Gay Alliance puts its own unique spin  on this concept as this year the Pride theme is: “There’s No Place Like Pride.”  As I reflect on the progress of our LGBT community, I am exceptionally proud.  We have passed marriage equality in 12 states, polls show that over 50% of the population support same sex marriage initiatives, and we recently saw the historic Supreme Court ruling which declared the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) unconstitutional. Foodlink Increases Access to Fresh Produce Throughout the City

Foodlink will have Summer Farm Stands as well as Curbside Markets set up throughout the City.  The schedule details where and when they will be.  This is a great initiative on behalf of Foodlink to bring fresh produce to areas of the City where access to these goods is not readily available.  I applaud them for their efforts to continue to build strong and healthy communities.                        ...
