As you walk along University Avenue, the center of the beautiful Neighborhood of the Arts, it becomes obvious how this neighborhood got its name. Lamp posts covered in mosaic tiles, sculptures playfully positioned outside businesses, and decorative benches have been prominent in the original Art Walk design. The City of Rochester recently completed its extension of this original venture with the aptly titled Art Walk Extension Project. The Art Walk Extension Project was awarded, Transportation Project of the Year, by the NYS Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA). The APWA Project of the Year Award series was established to promote excellence in the management and administration of public works projects.
